How do you get hired at Bank of America?
Asked by Sumirechan
Im 18 years old, a high school graduate, out going. Currently putting college on hold till next year. I recently applied for a few bank teller positions online full/part time openings at Bank of America and North Island Credit Union because I got the required 6 months cash handling experince at my old job. Like usual you get a email responses saying.." thanks for applying, we will review your application." Its been 2 days since I applied. I really want a job as a bank teller for future experience and many other things. I haven't heard from anyone yet... -should I call the Hiring Manager and ask for the status of my application? Or does the Human Resources take care of hiring people? -How can I get their attention so that they hire ME? -Lastly how long does the hiring process take? Thanks, great answers are very much appreciated! :) No I haven't visited the branch in person though I plan to and I know that you don't have to be 21 years old, its 18 years+. As I said I got the 6 months cash handling from my previous job which was with fast food, I was mainly head cashier there. I am also certified by the Regional Occupational Program of San Diego for a course taken in Financial Services/Sales, which i took in high school. I also did a Student Internship with Bank of America through my highschool program for a month. I was told by the hiring manager to look for open positions online and apply for them there... I aslo have applied at Washington Mutual and I was denied because I was not billingual, I got their response like 1 day after i applied through an email. This shows that Bank of America is crap with their hiring process.. T_T

You need to apply on line. http://www.bankofamerica.com Yes, they send you out "thank you" e-mail. If you are qualified to the position you applied for, HR sends you out the acknowledgement by e-mail (used for record keeping until you get hired, once you get hired they will use it to check your background history). Some time it takes a couple of days, somtimes it takes a week etc. It depends. After acknowledgement process is done, you get calls from hiring manager for an interview. As far as I know, HR takes cares of hiring process most part, and I wouldn't recommend you to call HR nor hiring managers. They have so many applicants to review, so, you need to be patient. Most of the bank now days, has cross selling goals per day. You need to be positive about the goal. And, once you get hired, you need to be certified as teller, otherwise, they need to fire you. It is difficult to get a job as teller, but, keeping teller position is difficult, too. Keep it in your mind. Good luck

Have you had significant cash handling and customer service experience? Most 18 year olds that I know are not ready for these sorts of positions. They may seem easy, but you must have a professional demeanor. I would suggest working elsewhere that would require professionalism and reapply in a few years. Here's one for the group: At 18 can you be hired to work in a bank or must you wait until you are 21? Just a question. For some reason, I thought you couldn't work at places like that until you were 21 because of insurance and the like.
