Do you have to be pretty to be a waitress? Is it easy to find a waitress job?

I want to waitress for a while to make money that I really need to pay some debts. Will I make a lot of money waitressing?

No you don't have to be pretty...but you must be a very good waitress to make good tips...

I like my server clean, delivering good and timely service, I also like them to have a bit of personality. =)

As far as money goes, it depends where you waitress. I would recommend your neighborhood Applebees, I love in NY and no matter where you are in NY.. Applebees is busy. Esp. at night because men come in to watch football and all that. So good tips and buisness there.
Being "pretty" isn't at all important if you're good at what you do, but yes, some places do judge. I'm average looking and a little overweight and have NEVER gotten a job at a diner, they usually only hire very attractive plastic tanned bitches.. haha. I would go for a busy, mature place that needs you.

You do not have to be pretty and it is fairly easy to find a waitress job but the job itself is very difficult and you get very little pay and rely on people leaving tips.

In UK? You won't make a lot of money. You don't have to be pretty, but unfortunately as in most things, it helps. Especially if boss is male. Go to places with women restaurent managers. As a customer I want someone who is attentive without crowding me. Notices when I want them as I hate callin out - keep scanning your tables. Don't stand and chat with the other waitresses. Be polite without being obsequious. Gets my order right first time.

No you don't have to be pretty but you definately need to have a great personality, be friendly and always carry a smile. And most importantly always go to your customer table and be attentive to whatever they need or if everything is okay.
