Asked by billfrank
Is it best to quit/give 2 weeks notice on a Friday or a Monday? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

Best Answer:
It dont matter Friday or Monday Just do it in the right manner because you never know if you will need to come back

A:
It really doesn't matter...just don't burn any bridges...you may run into these folks again.

The best day would be a Friday, Monday's are already crazy enough and so to throw in your 2 weeks might create serious tension in the work place. Friday gives a weekend of time for thinking and planning and makes the situation smoother.

I would say a Friday is better that way if your employers want to discuss it with you or offer you an incentive to stay with their company you have the weekend to make any final decision.

You'll still be paid no matter what day you resign, so economically you should be indifferent. I manage a team in a financial services firm and have seen my fair share of resignations. Most people tend to do it on Fridays, as they like to finish out two full weeks. But I have seen people resign on any day including Tue or Wed. Perhaps they plan to take off 3 days before starting the new job so decide upon a Tue, work 2 weeks, take off 3 days, and then start the new job. I do think that Fridays are good if you anticipate your manager being emotional. It gives him/her time to cool off and consider what to do. Mondays are good if you want to start off the week with the announcement and give them plenty of time to talk you into staying for more money or more responsibility :) Good luck!
