What's the best time to apply at Best Buy for a summer job? (Asking Best Buy employees in particular)?
Asked by Faxian A
As the question says, I just want to know what the best time is to apply for a summer job at best buy (for the most basic sales clerk jobs/ people who walk around the store helping customers find stuff). I would also like to know what the minimum age requirement is for working at best buy and if they would take a person who isn't 16 yet, but will be 16 by the time summer starts.

You would probably want to start applying about a month before you want to start. Any sooner, they'll just trash the application when they know you can't start until over a month later. The process to get in usually takes a couple to three weeks from your online "interview" as they will call you first for a second interview (with your potential direct supervisor), then for a third interview (with the General Manager). Finally, you will go through an orientation class, which they may not do until they have at least a small group of people getting hired, for efficiency reasons. As far as age, MOST stores won't hire until you're 18, since most departments require using equipment that you're legally required to be at least 18 to operate. Cashiers are the only exception I can think of. However, I do know of 2 employees in my 7 years with the company that we have hired. Other locations MAY hire differently though... worth a shot!!
I am a tenured Best Buy employee.
