Engineering majors also use AutoCad.

Drafter / Designer - mechanical, architectural
AutoCad is a low end CAD system, not suitable for high end product design or engineering. Look at Solid Works - a significant step up.

Any kind of drafter these days deals with AutoCAD. Engineering and architecture are the big two. CAD Technician is the term most used today and there are plenty of them out there. Sorry to disagree with Nigel, but AutoCAD, especially AutoDesk products are not inferior or low end. Mechanical engineers may use programs like Solidworks and Unigraphics for 3D parts and such, but Civil Engineers and different types of architects use AutoCAD exclusively. I guarantee that any road you see being built was designed with AutoCAD software. Since it really drives fields like Civil engineering, there is a need for CAD technicians who maintenance and updating work, instead of just drafting. Nowadays, even as a fully qualified, licensed engineer, you will still you CAD for much or your work, whereas before only draftsman did the drawing.
