What's the legal age to be a server/waiter in the state of Texas?
Asked by JeremySTARR.
Im 17, but i really would like to be a server, my friend told me that recently the law changed and you now have to be 18 to be a server. But when my mom was a waitress (5+ years ago) she said there were plenty of 16-18 year olds. Please help me, the Law changes too damn much.

The legal age to be a server in the state of Texas is 18 - maybe 16 if the restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages. You MUST BE 18 to serve alcohol in the state of Texas, thus, most restaurants require a person to be 18 to serve/wait tables. Just be patient. Work in different areas of the restaurant where you can learn the menu - such as To Go, or Expo (where they tray up food to be taken out to the floor) - that way, when you are 18 and can serve, you will know the menu in and out and be an informed server and thus recieve better tips. People want knowlegeabe servers. The more you know about the food, the better.
