It is going to be tough because there are so many people with more experience looking for the same type of jobs. General labor in the area that I live in is flooded with Mexican Immigrants, many willing to work long hours for low wages. However, I would recommend looking into areas that our attracting a lot of development. You may look into moving and helping in the areas that experienced a lot of destruction from Katrina. There are also many cities throughout the US that are growing very quickly. A friend told me that their are many construction jobs available in certain areas of Florida. Also, I was just reading the other day that the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina is growing at a very fast pace. Good luck with your search.
