Even though your dress at the job would be pretty casual, for any interview it's always a good idea to dress professionally and neatly.
When speaking, answer questions fully (not just yes or no) but don't overdo it. A firm handshake and good eye contact go a long way. They may ask you why you want the job. Anyone would automatically say "I love animals" which is fine, but you need more than that. You can be honest that you need a job, but think this will be both fun and rewarding as you'll be working with animals but also helping them to be happy and find new homes. You recognize the work will be hard and a bit dirty, but you are willing to pay your dues as you work your way up. Ask questions about how the shelter operates, what is expected of you, what opportunities exist for advancement, etc. Be confident, be honest, be relaxed, and remember to send a thank you note. Good luck.

Consider the fact that your resume is quite impressive and the employer can’t resist to have the audacity to ask you to come for an interview. Honestly I’m wired toward automatically seeing the person in these kind of situations because I also had the same experienced when I was hunting for a right job. However many take these for granted, with the eloquence of having an “impressive resume” they forgot that applicants will not only be examined based on the job experience and personality but also with how they present themselves professionally.
