If police hold you then let you go without charging you can they place a warrant out for you later?
Asked by Laura C
A friend of mine was pulled over and the police searched her and found some marijuana on her. She was handcuffed and taken back to the sheriff's department to speak with a detective. She was held there waiting on the detective who could not make it that day. They released her without fingerprinting or charging her with anything, only giving her the number of the detective to call the following Monday. If she chooses not to work with the detective can they go back and still charge her?

Absolutely.

Yes, they could, but it sounds like she's a low priority to them. At this point, I don't think they'd bother.
I'd be paranoid for a few weeks if I were her though.

Yes they can but your friend shouldnt of let them search her car. They dont have a search warrant so they had no right. NO YOUR RIGHTS :P

Of course.
Depends on when they compile evidence.
She should consult attorney and work with detective.
