What is the difference between going to a pre-med school or going to a nursing school?
Asked by mandinha
I mean is going to a pre-med school totally different from going to a nursing school? If you go to a pre-med school are you doing just to be a doctor? Or do you also have to do it for nursing?

Often they are at the same school... just different degree programs.
Pre-med is a Bachelor's degree program which meets the prerequisites for medical school. An issue with this course of study is; if you don't get into medical school, it has no appluication to any particular job.
A nursing degree is available from many types of school, but many students get a BSN which is a Bachelor's degree in nursing. In this program the first 2 years are very similar to that of the Pre-med student, but the last 2 years are nursing courses.
There are also associate degree and diploma programs in nursing, which have less prerequisites, and cover certain subjects differently.

Pre-med is to get into medical school to study to be a doctor. Nursing school is entirely different with different classes. If you want to be a Nurse, go to Nursing school. If you want to be a doctor, take pre-med.
