Editing or writing jobs available for someone with only a high school diploma?
Asked by Debugonnawinnow
Right after I get out of high school (this June) I plan to work full-time for the rest of the year in order to save money for college and such. I hope to go into editing (magazines/books) or writing (fiction or about video games) or the like, but I'm not sure what kind of job is available to someone with only a high school diploma. I live in Utah, and I'd really rather stay here, but I am open to other possibilities. So what job do you think I could get like this?

try and get a job on a local small paper or magazine. Have you written anything at all - for the school paper? for the year book? If yes then show them off at the interview. Without any writing experience it is a lot more difficult to break into writing. There is one area of writing that pays quite well - and thats technical writing. Where you have to translate technical language to every-day english for the consumer to understand.
