Is a person who has taken medical leave a part of the labor force?
Asked by D-Backs Fan
This is for macroeconomics. I understand that the labor force are the unemployed and the employed, but would a person on medical leave be counted as part of the labor force or not?

Best Answer:
Yes, they are just on leave like a vacation. Most will come back to work when they get better. We have one with lung cancer he took off a few weeks for chemo then decided to say out 6 full months so he can start collecting his pension. Once he is out 6 months he can collect his pension while working. When he comes back to work we will modify his duties so he does less labor. Another is going on medical leave for 6 weeks in April then coming back, selling his house then retiring, moving a couple thousand miles then will work from his new home on contract. He doesn't look sick so how does he know he will be sick starting April 4th?

A:
yes I should think so, as they are still employed and a staff of the company
