What is the best way for a nursing student to apply for a hospital job?
Asked by smalls
I am a nursing student (and licensed CNA) looking for a job in a hospital as a patient care associate, multifunctional tech, etc. Should i look online for jobs to apply for??.......or should i go to the hospital and check their job posting board?? Which is better?

Many larger hospitals these days prefer you fill out applications online. You will find all the job postings on their website. Go straight to the source - don't google for jobs or anything like that, find the websites for the hospitals near you where you want to work and they will always have an "employment" tab somewhere on the homepage. I was certified as a NA to get into RN school, but never worked as a CNA so I had NO luck getting a job in a hospital while in school. Everyone told me to work in a nursing home, which I did not want to do, but it's the best place for CNAs with no experience to start out, because it can be difficult getting in to a hospital with no patient care experience. Good luck!

Probably going in would be best because they get to see you. Wear scrubs and look ready to work.

I would go to some career fairs that the hospitals are offering. It's graduation time coming so there should be plenty of fairs going on. The hospital I'm employed at just had theres yesterday.
