Asked by Qwerty 123
If I were to work as office assistant at a insurance company (entry level) what would be the good starting salary(net)to ask? I have around year of experience working.. what would be reasonable? not too high, not too low? salary after taxes? I have interview tomorrow and need to make decision. If I say too high, they would not hire. so I need some of your thoughts. How much would you pay to your workers? for office assistant position? at insurance company?

You have not stated your location . The reasonable salary that you can demand is 25$ per hour.

I would pay as little as possible.
Instead of trying to ask what you will make, why don't you ask what the company can offer you. Things like upward mobility, what type of training they provide.
Believe it or not but everyone has to start somewhere, and first impressions are a big part of how successful you will be at a company. If you give off the vibe that you are "office assistant" material then that is where you will stay. If you show up with an attitude of "how can I help your company grow and how can your company make me grow" you will be seen as someone with potential to get hired and promoted.
Insurance Agents can make $100K+ a year.. Just FYI...

I'm the HR director for an insurance company and we have establish salary ranges for each position. The important thing about the question of pay is to be open and honest. Don't refuse to answer the question; that is bad form. But ask them if they have a range. Tell them what you are currently making or most recently made and state that you hope to at least keep that level or improve on it. It doesn't hurt to comment on the fact that you know that more than pay will go into your consideration. (benefits, company culture, ease for you to get to work, etc.)
Depending on the size, nature, and location of the company plus the benefits being offered, I think anywhere between $8-$11 is possible.
Salary being offered is ALWAYS before taxes and any other type of deductions.

I worked at an insurance company as admin and they paid me around 32k starting with a college degree. However, after I worked there for six months and I proved my work ethic, I asked and was granted a raise.
I think it's acceptable to say you need a day to think about the position. Plus, most insurance companies have exceptional benefits.
