I have little work experience in the environmental field and companies do not want to employ those without any experience. Could you please suggest what I should do next?

My wife was once a lab manager and I worked in the field. About 15 years ago the whole industry started to collapse and I think it's still scraping bottom.
Many states and the federal government stopped funding big environment projects and there has been few new laws and regulations enacted.
I few people I knew were able to continue doing environmental work with insurance companies. Real estate investors are willing to pay for comprehensive surveys to avoid future lawsuits. Some cities are also investing money into brown fields reclamation projects. I believe there has been one or two private investment firms that have gone into environmental investing such pollution credit trading.
My advice is to be creative and look more on the edges for field than looking for a position in a lab. As one person I know found out, she could make twice as much money doing nails in a beauty salon than testing drinking water for Middlesex County NJ. She had a BA and was working on her Masters degree.

No work experience in the environmental field? Write to Farmer Giles and ask if you can rent a patch in his top field. On meeting for the first time show him that you mean business by wearing your best rags, a torn straw boater and a stout broom handle for insertion in the appropriate orifice. Set yourself up and hey presto! Six months later you have your work experience
