If I also have activities e.g. basketball and dance, how much would i work approximately, i.e. how many hours a week do employers want/need teenagers to work on part-time.

That depends on the place of employment. Each place is different and need people at different times. Usually if its retail, most teens work some nights and weekends. You could always be upfront and let them know what hours your willing to work each week.

20 hours a week is normal for a part time worker.

It really depends on the place you are working. I know my daughter only works 10 to 15 hrs. Don't work too many hours or else your grades will suffer. You need a good gpa to get into college.
