Is the Union worth it?
Asked by Natalie P
My boyfiend and I are expecting in 7 wks, he just started a great job this week as a roofer making good money. He has an interview on Friday with the Carpenters Union. Is the union worth all its cracked up to be?
I honestly don't think he should bother 1.) cuz the economy sux and he should stick with what he has and 2.) he has to take a day off of his first week of work after not going in 2 days due to rain.
He called to try and r/s the interview but they said they dont r/s, if u can't make it u have to reapply.
Please help.

it will definately be worth it in the long run. they help you with better wages, better benefits, good insurance, and a pension you can count on. i am in another union that is covered under the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. I would never leave.

Unions are a great way to earn a better living. If you are expecting then the insurance provided by the union will be a welcome addition to your household. I am a Sheet Metal Worker. The benefits of being in a union go beyond wages, you will also be able to get training for free, a pension, and other benefits. Joining the union was the best thing I ever did.
