What type of entry level jobs should a Management Information Systems Major be looking for?
Asked by wendingowolf
I'm a recent MIS grad and I'm looking to go down the Business side path of MIS. I'd love to be a Project Manager or a Business System Analyst down the road but I'm having a hard time finding an entry level job for these roles. What type of job (title would be helpful) should I be looking for here?

Your best bet to start down a path in MIS is to do a useful internship while still in school. With or without a internship the next step would be to utilize the on campus recruiting office. If that route is not available to you / is not working than you need to directly contact larger corporations that routinely hire large numbers of MIS grads into structured training programs. You have to look in the right kind of place and understand that a fresh out of school person such as yourself does not have the experience to be useful as Project Manager or Business Systems Analyst. Both roles require someone that has been through a number of situations that simply cannot be part of school. Take a look at the profiles linked to on the site below.
