What are the duties of a Best Buy cashier?
Asked by m123
I recently applied for a job at best buy as a cashier. I was wondering what you had to do other than ring people up. I worked in a grocery store for a while and at the end of my shift I would have to bring my till to the back count all the money and then wait for them to count it. Does best buy do it the same way? And if you work at best buy do you like it?

I worked at Best Buy a couple years ago. I was in the Digital Imaging (cameras, etc) department. Several of my friends were cashiers, though, so I know a bit about what they do.
Generally, the cashiers stay up at their register for a majority of the day. If the customer flow is really slow, the cashiers walk around the store and help get customers to people that can answer all of their questions. Namely, get the customers to the department where they can buy the items they're asking about.
At the end of your shift, the supervisor of the cashier team closes out the till. I'm fairly certain you don't count your own money, but there's always the chance that I'm wrong.
I really liked working at Best Buy, but again, my position was different than you applied for. I know the turnover rate for cashiers is higher than product specialists. At the very least, if you don't like the job it helps you move to other departments, since you're already in. I say give it a shot!

you also have to say before you finialize the sale 'do you have a bestbuy reward zone card?' if not then the customer gets mad at you for not reminding them. && if they are paying with a credit card you have to ask if they want a free perscription to any choice of magazine. & you also have to get credit apps out. its easy
