Interview for Marketing Manager at large company with 7 people in one day?
Asked by Sam R
I have been asked to fly across the country to interview with a large company for a mid to senior level position as international marketing manager. I am surprised to learn that I have 7 separate interviews. From the top division manager to other people including the person that I will ultimately be reporting to; Why is there so many people involved in this decision? Do any of you in HHRR or in Marketing Depts. have any advise?

I've worked for two major corporations and both did the same.
All I can say is, "get your mind right!" Read, read, read up on that company and industry. Do not go unprepared. Be ready to discuss current issues as it relates to both.
It may sound silly, but STUDY your resume. If this the first multiple person interview you've experienced, you want to be sure you're ready from all angles.
Once you've done these two things, relax and get a good night's sleep. It won't be as bad as you think if you go prepared.
This interview strategy is not uncommon, at the level you are in your career. These folks need to make sure you are the most qualified AND the right fit for the company and/or group. It seems frustrating, but from their perspective, if they are going to pay you the big bucks, they want to be sure you deserve it.
Furthermore, take this as an opportunity to learn more about the company and the folks you are expected to spend ALOT of your time with. Ask questions! You're interviewing these guys too!
You'll do great!
Best of luck!
