How do i get my foot in the door of a commercial construction company?

I have been a residential construction superintendent for four years now with one of the top builders in the country. As we all know residential construction has taken a down turn. I was lucky when i started with my current company as i was an electronics technician in the navy with no construction experience at all and they gave me great training. I have construction experience but not in the commercial industry and would like get some ideas on how to get my foot in the door with a commercial firm that would give me a chance and a little training. Any answers especially from commercial GC's would be greatly appreciated.

See if any companies that you were on residential projects have a commercial branch. See if you know anyone there that can help you cross over.
