Is it legal to make a law forbidding the American production of goods overseas?
Asked by sassychickensuckerboy
I'm not talking about importing resources and materials, just that the production part would have to be kept in US borders... Feasible?

Best Answer:
Congress could enact a law whereby any goods manufactured in 'x' country are not permitted into the US - effectively "forbidding" the American production of goods overseas. Take this example to the protectionist extreme, i.e., apply it to all countries, and bango, all goods sold in America must be produced in America. Mind you, America would become Zimbabwe, or some other horribly governed 3rd world country - but everything would be made in America.

A:
No, sorry, the economy is based on worldwide labor, prices, shipping, etc. It is not feasible, but I don't think it would be feasible.
