Is it easy or difficult to get a job as a school bus driver, and how do I prepare better for the interview?
Asked by bo3z
I read on pennysaverusa that they are hiring.. but I'm nervous that they might not hire me because my IQ and intelligence is below average...
what can I do to be better prepared than just wearing a good suit?
Will they hate me since I served for the US army reserves?
thanks the person who 1st responded. I just thought some people consider soldiers stupid for going to war for some benefits like GI Bill and low pay.

Becoming a school bus driver is no big deal ..If you are going to a company ,like Laidlaw , they will train you .
You will need to take a written tests at DMV , general knowledge and airbrake , for your permit . Then you will be instructed by the company .. You will end up with a CDL-b... with a school bus endorsement . After you are road tested by a DMV inspector . It's a job I wouldn't do on a bet . The pay is not enough for the s*** you take . and the responsibility you have . Don't worry about the interview .. that's not a problem . By the way , you also must have a physical , be drug tested and they will do a background check on you.
Drove school bus for 2 years. NEVER AGAIN!

Having your CDL with passenger endorsement would help immensely, unless they're offering to train and license you.
Why would they hate you for serving in the reserves?

Here in Australia my son has a great bus driver, l think the secret is to have a lot of patience and be able to relate to the kids. If your manner is calm and relaxed and you place a high priority on the safety of the kids you can't go wrong. We parents trust you with the lives of our children every day, it is not something to take lightly. Recently my son's bus was in a crash and it was only from the quick thinking, level headed bus driver that saved many kids from being hurt. When the driver returned to work the kids all pitched in a bought him a gift to say thanks. What a lucky man to have such a great job where he means so much to so many and it does not go unnoticed. Good luck.
