Title usually don't mean anything except to those within the company.
Remember that a salary package includes pay wages. insurance, retirement options, vacation leave, sick leave, paid holidays. All of these things have a dollar value to the company and they consider it all in regarding how much an employee is worth to the company.

Generally speaking ~ job titles fit the organizational expectation of performance from their perspective . . . they mean little in the over all sense of things.
A mouth watering salary is generally speaking the idea that the salary is quite high and well paid. Again, that's from the perspective of the speaker too. Hopefully, for your friend, the salary is high in the industry on a comparative level.
