I worked as a casual and take it from me you need to get 95 or higher. I have a 73 but 70 is the minimum score. Ive worked as casual twice before. That may help me win they get to my name on the list. The best thing to do is take the test over and over.
And I was recommend for re hire both times.

This is the most aggravating part about applying for a post office job that requires taking a test. You didn't state what your score was,..why ? That has the most effect on when and if you'll be contacted. I took the 460 test for an RCA position, ( rural carrier assoc ), on Jan 4, 2008, in Sarasota, Florida. Three weeks later I was informed I passed with a score of 79, plus the extra 5 points for being a vet, for a total score of 84. It is now April 4th, 2008, and still no word. I have spoken to one postmaster and a few postal employees, and receive only vague answers. Through osmosis I believe a lot depends on 2 factors. 1. Your total score,..the highest get called first. Anything over 85 should be called within 2, 3 months, ..over 90 it'll be 1, 2 months. 2. The post office you selected, as some have higher needs than others. I selected only 2 near me, and both are mid size. I just signed up for a second test in the neighboring area, and will select more than just the 2 closest post offices I'd like to work in. Hey, at $18/hr to start, ( what they pay here in SW Florida ), I'll travel a bit to get to work if necessary.
I hope this helps,..I know its frustrating,..some never hear back, ( a tot score under 77, just forget it ), But if you selected a large or medium sized P.O., and have a total score of 85 or more,..you should get an offer.
