What is the best way to get work as a nanny in California?
Asked by chanelgrlnum5
I am moving to the Orange County to live with my aunt and I want to find a good job as a nanny. I have 4 years of experience being a full time nanny. What is the best way of going about getting a job? Should I contact an agency? Any advice?

Speaking English well is important. Must be a legal citizen. Don't forget you will absolutely need a driver's license and full auto liability insurance to drive kids around, and everyone drives everywhere in California. You will have to pass a criminal background check which includes financial background (no bankruptcies or late bills, etc). Also you'll need to be bonded and insured. To be extra marketable, know how to cook natural food, vegetarian, etc. Also 12 college units in Early Childhood Education is a big selling point. And of course, you can't be a smoker. Agencies are the way to go if you want a nice clientele, but the rich mostly want their nannies to be live-in.
