But I’m not sure what an account executive really do. Should i apply for an account executive position for this 4 star hotel. What should i possess in order to qualify and be successful in it? I heard you have to be good in selling…if I have not much experience in selling, will I be successful doing that job?

An account executive is basically a generalized term for salesmen, and could mean many different things.
An outside account executive promotes and sells stays at the hotel. It could be a commission based job where you sell vacation package, or a salaried job where you work with long-term clients to ensure they hotel continues to meet their needs.
An inside account representative could be very similiar to the call center position, and would probably have similiar responsibilities to a shift manager. You would deal with complaints and ensure the satisfication of all of the customers.
Again, the title Account Executive is extremely generalized. To get an idea on the specific responsibilities of the job you're applying for, it would be best to ask the human resources contact you applied through.
