How can I find out if a person is truly an RN (registered nurse).?
Asked by stevieray
An elderly friend of mine has hired a lady from an ad in the newspaper to come into her home to help her with chores and errands. The lady claims she is or used to be (whatever that means) an RN. There have been some occurances that have me a little concerned. I can't really blame them on this person, but I want to know if there is a simple way to see if this person is trained the way she claims.

Best Answer:
A nurse is required by law to be licensed in the state that they practice. In every state, there is a board of nursing that deals with this, ex: Michigan board of Nursing. You should be able to get on that states website and search by name to see if they are licensed. Nurses are also required to carry their licenses with them.

A:
Check with the Board of Nursing in your state.

In Nevada, you can also check on the State Board's website by the person's name. Check that first!
