A phlebotomist simply draws blood. You work at a doctor's office, laboratory, or a hospital. You may be able to work at a blood bank to collect donations (blood). You will draw blood from the patient for the test(s) ordered, and transfer the blood to the appropriate container(s)/vial(s). Try looking at salary.com or monster.com for example salaries in your area. As in any job, the stress level will vary from day to day and place to place. Also, the stress is as bad as you make it out to be (as with anything else!). It is what is typically called "ancillary" or "non-licensed" staff. It is not nursing, however, you may need to comfort patients that are scared of needle sticks. You may or may not want to make a career out of it, but it should be good job experience, especially if you are going into a medical field, like Emergency Services (EMT), nursing, or something other.
