Papa Johns Delivery Driver?
Asked by Ambi
So, i want to apply for a delivery driver position with papa johns pizza. What do delivery drivers do when they aren't "delivering"? Do they just sit around? And do you waste more gas than the money you earn? Like, it is profitable being a delivery driver?

It depends on what store you work at. I work at Papa John's. My primary duties are delivering pizzas and cutting pizzas. It sounds easier than it is. They come out very fast. Basically I take pizzas out of the oven, cut them, box them, and put orders together. When my orders come up I clock them out and deliver them. Depending on what shift you work you might have to answer phones, clean, or do prep work. When I used to work at pizza hut I spent the majority of my time washing dishes and taking phone orders. Do yourself a favor and don't work at a pizza place that has a dining room. As for gas, I spend about $5 an hour in gas. I make $6.50 an hour. So after paying for gas I make $1.50 an hour plus tips. I also get a 7% commision. The only days that you will make much money are on the weekend. Most weeknights I only make $15 - $20 after paying for gas(4 hr shift). This is in addition to my hourly rate. On a good Friday I can make $80. I enjoy delivery pizza. You are always seeing something new. Some good, some bad. Hope this helps.

Average pay per hour(w/ tips) is $13-$14(California). Papa Johns and Dominos are always busy. Depends on what you drive as per the profitable part of your question. PS: You don't have to sit... some people like to sing... some people like to dance... some people like to sing and dance.

Usually you are always going to be working. Driving from house to house, then back to Papa Johns, then out to house to house. But you don't sit around, you put your hat on the floor and dance for tips.
