What exactly does a graphic designer do? and Does it have a good decent salary?

I 16 and I am in high school and I'm thinking of becoming a graphic designer because I have many interests in the arts and the desgining feild. Somebody with experience please answer my question with accurate info. Thanks for your time. =)

I am a graphic Designer/New Media. I develop advertising campaigns for businesses, develop and program websites and specialize in E commerce. I make about 70 thou a year. The market is good for this kind of work as long as you are versitle. Do not limit yourself to one aspect of the field or you will find it hard to get work. I have my AS Degree in Information Technology and my BFA in Photography/New Media Design.
