does the 4 year dental hygienist program pay more that the 2 year? when you get your job?

Also would it be a wise idea to go to school for dental hygienist then continue while working as a hygienist to go to school for dentistry? im just trying to choose the best path.

A 4 year degree does not pay more than a 2-year degree in most areas. Since the demand is high for hygienists; they want you as soon as you can become certified. But again this depends on your area and states requirements. As for going into hygiene to bridge over to dentistry- I think that most would advise you to go straight into the dentistry program instead of hygiene. While they both cover some items that are similar, overall you will be immersed in more in depth studies with your quest for becoming a dentist- hygiene may give you a small start in this field, but not enough to make this a requirement. More dentists would go this route if it was beneficial to them- they usually just get their dental license. Good Luck.
