what are the risks of working on an offhore oil rig?

im thinking of joining the oil industry how much will i make a yr (in us dollars) what credentials do i need and is there a risk of getting killed ? oh i wana be a welder

fires,falling off them,there might not be any recue for ages depending on where it is lol hope this helps

Working on a rig is dangerous. Lots of manual labor. You live on rig for 3 weeks come home for 2 or something similar. My stepfather worked on rigs for 10 years. He fell 50ft one time cleaning rust off railing. His whole body is a mess. Money is ok (not exact estimate), depending on how much you think good money really is. Good luck....
