Can you branch out to become a maternity nurse being a LPN?
Asked by Kellyn25
And if so what courses would you need to take once your already a LPN?

Best Answer:
Yes, as an LPN you can work in almost any specialty, however, it depends on the hospital. Some hospitals are no longer hiring LPNs and many of those that are use them in areas where they need an aid with nursing knowledge (sad, but true). So, check with HR where you intend to work to see if that is an option. Finally, you may want to consider upgrading your credentials to RN, you'll be glad that you did.

A:
yes -talk to the hospital recruiter and your instructor.

In my community, it would be hard to get hired as an LPN in an acute care setting. Mostly, nursing homes are hiring LPNs.
