How can I find a new job while working at my current one, I'm so busy I can't take time off to interview?
Asked by Selina Kyle
I am the only accountant on staff and I usually work through lunch and work long hours.
I really need to leave but I can't quit my present job unless I am hired somewhere else first.

Your best bet would be to contact a headhunter. They will do the searching for you and will often be able to set up interviews for you after hours or early in the morning, so you will be able to go without taking time off of work. Good luck!

If your really hot on moving to another job then you have to be interviewed. Make up your mind!! But why do you want to bivouac to another territory???

I know someone who is in almost that same situation, although she has vacation ans sick time. See if your prospects will allow phone interviews and if that goes well make the time to meet them. Just because you are the only accountant that does not mean you are not entitled to some time off. You could always get "sick." I will personally vouch for you. Not too many people are stupid enough to argue with a dragon.

Tell the boss you need help.
Start taking your lunch break. You aren't getting paid for it so take it. You need the break.
Stop working after 5 p.m.
Prove to the boss that you need help. Then during your lunch break, you can go on job interviews or make arrangements to take interviews at 3 or 4 p.m. You can do this because you have the time saved up to take off a few hours here & there.
