Starting System Administrator Career?

Hi, This is my last year in university, currently I am doing Bachelor of Information Science majoring in Computer Science and Information Technology. I am more keen on Information systems side of things. Since i am not a wiz in programming. When i finish my study i would like to work as System administrator in IT field, however i don't know the best way to start my career. My university career center consultant known to be unfriendly, so is quite hard to get any information from them, is there any other way where i can get some professional advices about my career path? and do you know any sites/organizations that offers internship/apprenticeship programs in Auckland, New Zealand? Awesome we share the same major almost. My major is Information Systems Technology, and we have an array of career path for our choosing and I hope I choose the right one too.
