How does one get exercise sitting at a desk for 8 to 9 hours a day?
Asked by Mystic
It seems with the work load and the computer and phone requirements I often find I have only gotten up from the desk to go the restroom. Any suggestions on how to get the proper exercise throughout the day?

You need to take a break, not just for the physical movement, but relax your mind, eyes, and to increase your respiration. The body needs movement. You can check out breakpal.com for exercises at your desk, but give yourself breaks at least every two hours. (It is a law for a reason). Go for walks on your lunch hour (be sure to take one) and encourage your employer to sponsor a physical fitness program through work.
Keep in mind that only you can do it for yourself.

I've had desk jobs for years. #1 desk job exercise is yours kegals. (your mate will love you for this one) Do those several times a day. I also take time to lift my legs and pick move my arms up and down while I'm seated. Use self-resistance for a better work out. Also, squeeze in your tummy and buttocks and bend just a little bit. No one ever notices. It just helps keep you fit. I've been doing desk work for over 20 years and I'm still look fit.

I would get up from your desk as often as you can. If you are printing a bunch of copies of something. Get up and print one copy, sit back down, get up and print another copy, etc. And, just make time to do exercising before or after work. I am in the same situation. It can be hard to find time!
