I want to be a line cook over the summer?
Asked by .
But I have no experience, and that is a requirement for almost all of the jobs. What should I do? I'm very good at cooking in my house, but don't have any professional experience.

You can just apply without experience to most kitchens. Certainly any of your chain restaurants or bar type restaurants. Most kitchens are hiring at all times even if they don't advertise.
You'll be started on a station like salads or fryers or maybe even prep but if you're any good they'll move you to a better spot fairly quickly. If it's a small kitchen expect lots of prep work and mabe even some dish washing.
Being able to handle a busy line is more about quickness and organization than cooking ability. Even if you are a great cook, if you have no hustle you will fair poorly.
Expect late nights, HARD work and very little pay.
Worked in restaurants for 10 years. Dishwasher to Cook, Sous Chef, Bus Boy, Server, Bar and Management. Read many resumes in my time.

There's a thing called staging. "stahging" Where you work for free to gain the needed experience. You could do this, get the experience, then find a job you can get paid.
