Will bad credit keep me from passing background check?
Asked by Jessica O
I believe I might just be paranoid because I don't even know if the company uses a credit check as part of their background checking process, but if they do could it keep me from passing after they have offered me a position? It's only a part-time sales associate position as well.

You might want to check what it said on the paper you had to sign giving permission to do the background check. While yes a "Background check" does not include your credit, some companies will include a credit check, they have to disclose to you all items being checked.
While your credit should not affect your ability to do your job, some companies use that score as a way to judge you.
Check with the HR department. My current company does do a credit check as part of their background check but they do not look at the score just how it looks.

No, this background check is to ensure you are of legal immigration status and to see if you been arrested or convicted of any felonies. It doesn't check your credit, don't worry.
