How to appropriately ask boss if you can become fulltime???
Asked by vwbryant
My boyfriend got a job with a game company about a month ago as a part-time contractual employee. He is almost finished with an associate's degree in design and really wants a full-time position. For the summer he is working full-time hours (without benefits) and wants to ask his boss about becoming full-time with benefits. He is nervous because he doesn't want to sound pushy since he just got the job. In addition there is a employee there that is full-time who has less education than him and is doing the same job. How should he ask his boss about the possibility of becoming without seeming pushy?

Dropping a hint or letting the boss know you will almost be finished with schooling and would he keep him in mind if he has any full time openings. Alot of times they will offer the position to you if you have been an excellent employee or they have an opening with no others to fill it

If it were me I would go up to my boss and tell him/her that I really enjoy working at the job and if they ever have an opening for a full time position that my schedule is open and i would really love to become full time. But only do something like this if you and your boss have some kind of a good relationship. If they really like your work they may consider it. I dont see how it would be pushy if he just politely informed his boss that he is interested in going full time if a position comes open.
