What would be the steps to become a social worker in Florida without a degree (even associates)?
Asked by paola992004
Even if it is a long term goal I would like to pursue a career as a social worker. Do I neccesarily need to have a college degree or work experience (if so how much) before going into this line of work. Any information is appreciated.

It will be difficult, if not impossible, because most places will require you are a LSW (licensed social worker), which requires a degree in the field. Any career worth having will require some formal education, there is no easy way around it.

Start out by volunteering if you can manage the finances of yours first. Show the people you work for your eagerness, they may end up paying your way for at least an Associate Degree, then go from there...........Good Luck. If you have friends or family that will let you live at their place while you volunteer, all the better.
