Best Answer:
your looking for a course called "NC/CNC part programming" there are two systems, hiedenhein(sp?) and fanuc i did it as a night course but it was in Devon so i cant tell you about Manchester. best thing to do though is get yourself a job as a cnc operator trainee (not great pay) and study it at the same time. the practical side of running one of these machines you wont learn at college, course is about a year. but i gotta say, really you should study autocad, lots of machines have software where you just draw the part and software converts it into CNC language, this is happening more and more. soon there will be no need for a CNC programmer, i hardly use it anymore.
