How much money do the satellite installers for direct tv make?
Asked by adrian s
I am asking about the ones that go out and repair broken satellites, and mount them on the sides of people houses?
The entry level technicians.
I mean the ones that work for companies, not independent contractors. The guys who do it for direct TV or any of those other companies who get an actual salary as opposed to I get to work if work is needed

Technically, you don't mount satellites on people's houses. They get launced into space and the people who do that get paid a ton of money. You're talking about putting a dish on the house, and people who do that only get a fraction of the pay a satellite technician would =)
it depends on the company you work for. Yes, it's true that you can make $600-1800 per week, but that's VERY difficult. The start up costs for an independant worker is high (you have to have the vehicle, ladder, equipment, etc.), and as far as I know all installers (independent or part of a subcontracted company that works for DirecTV) get paid by the job. I'm not too sure how much, but I've heard stories from both ends of the spectrum (paid a whole lot and not paid very much) so it depends on the jobs you do and how quickly (and how well) you get them done.

unfortunately not much. they claim you can make 600-1800. per week but thats far from the truth. some say you barely earn minimum wage. you have high startup costs such as tools and birddog meters. you need tools, insurance and more before even starting. then if the install isnt done correctly, you dont get paid (should be that way anyways)
But do a search and you'll see alot of sub contractors end up being disappointed. check this article:
