Well, there is NO typical day as a land surveyor... there are a lot of variables (in the US.. I dont know about other countries) You can be working on boundary lines so you may be researching old deeds in the County or City archives.. looking for a clue that will tell you who owns what. Still following that clue, you may be in the field hunting for where the creek or river USED to be or an old tree that has been cut down leaving only a stump.. or you can be searching for the property corner set by an earlier surveyor last week or a hundred years ago. If you are building things, you may be setting the limits of construction for a developer or large grading operation. Establishing lines and elevations so that whatever is built is set in the right place not only left and right but also up and down. Two neighbors fighting over a fence? You may be in court testifying as an expert witness about what your opinion is so that the judge will be able to make a final decision. Need more info.. check out Utube and hunt for 'surveying'.. there are several excellent videos which show the profession, what it does, and what is needed to do it. ..
