different hospital units?
Asked by There can only be one - (ANSWER)
I am in Ohio, and I work on a skilled nursing unit as a STNA in a Nursing Home. That being said, I have a question. I applied to a local hospital as a full time PCA in the med/surg unit. Aside from having to take and pass their PCA training, what can anyone tell me about working in a med/surg unit?

I worked as a PCA for two years in a large hospital on a med/surg. Every hospital is different, but at my hospital PCA's would weigh patients, turn total care pt's very 2 hours, record I andOs, Collect specimens (except blood), run errands, pass out trays, feed total care pts, give baths, get things for patients and nurses, help assist if nurses need it, etc. I hope this helped.
