How much is a Social Worker's salary (BA) in California?
Asked by acolon
Currently I'm major in Social Work (BA). Hoping to move to CA from CT. How much is a Social Worker's salary with a BSW in CA? How much does a MSW make? With two years of work experience a SW can make on average $ 50-70,000 in a state job.

Best Answer:
BA level social workers make 30-40K in CA - MSW with 2 years will make more like 50-60K - 70 would be high with 2 years experience but possible if you are really good. DA

A:
You can check average salaries: salary.com MSW will obviously make more...but social work is a notoriously underpaid profession. I counsel several social workers, over worked, under paid, hard cases.....they do it out of "passion", not to make money...salary you quote is much higher than average bachelor's sw...check above url.
