Fast food is a tough business but here it is.
A. Motivate employees
- most of your employees are minimum wage or slightly above minimum and not permanent. So the only way to motivate them is monetary promotions.
- Go to your head office and ask for 50-100 dollars worth of spending money and go get a bunch of starbucks gift cards or whatever company doesn't matter 5-10 bucks a piece. Anytime you see somebody do something good give them one. Set up competitions for sell-ups (medium to large drinks) extra fries. Every fast food crew has a leader amongst the employees figure out who that is and befriend him (create a common enemy, usually upper management) then anytime you have to come down on them blame upper management. (its cheesy but for fast food staffs it works).
That will help increase sales. But don't forget sales are only as good as profits. So make sure you cut labor here and there. Send people home early, cancel them before their shift. Do what you have to do to save money. Earning money is as important as cutting costs.
If you are an area manager the gift cards things works awesome with lower end employees, the ones that feel underappreciated.
Secondly do some local store marketing. As a fast food place Im sure you are in a busy intersection with other businesses make sure you promote to them. Ask yourself why you are not slammed during lunch? *again make sure you staff accordingly. If you get extremely slammed during lunch, start preparing early, and send somebody outside the box to get orders. As the manager you are probably the fastest one on the computers so during busy times make sure you take over and put your customers FIRST!
Ive got a ton more ideas but that will do for now.
Those are the strategies I used to take my store from a 3% positive jump over last years sales to 11%. It works trust me
Now, where my 10 points at?
A:
- decrease prices or having brain-snapping bargains that entice the customers to come
- increase the range
- up the marketing
- torch the competition
There's no point giving the staff extra training...they can only work with the customers that come....
