Is printing out an job application and filling it out at home, and then submitting at a store a bad thing?
Asked by Bam
As in, is it gonna make me look bad in the eyes of my potential employer? Is it better to fill one in at the store, or does it matter?

I think printing it out at home and filling it out is the sensible thing to do. A potential employer would be impressed if you brought in a completed, neatly written application. To me, this says you are prepared and intelligent enough to think ahead. And by filling it out ahead of time, rather than in the store, you can make sure all your information is correct, and if you mess up, you can just start over.
It's a small action with a big impact. Good for you for wanting to make a positive first impression! Hope you get the job!

No, it isn't a bad thing. Usually employers think you're more dedicated for printing the application off the website.

I would say it is better to fill it out at home and then bring it in. It gives you time to think about your answers, and not put down the first thing you think of. Many people take one day to pick up applications, and another day to return them. This also gives them more opportunity to speak to the person hiring, and be more refreshed. Good luck.

After 35 years in management, I can tell you I only had three people do the application in advance. Two of the three also took the time to research the company on the website and had good questions to ask at the end of the interview. I hired those two simply because of their preparation. You will also have more time to be accurate with your info on the application. My overall opinion... print out the application, neatly complete (filling in ALL the blanks) take it to the employer, personally give the ap to the manager on duty, and have two GOOD questions ready for the interview... It could be right then! Good Luck!

Totally reasonable, esp you writing is going to be easier to read because you aren't rushed...
Plus it makes you look busy, aka not lazy.
