How much is a good salary for a sales assistant at an automotive dealership?

I have currently worked with an exotic automotive dealership for two years and feel I'm getting paid in peanuts--just under $10/hr. I know cost of living is cheaper in the midwest, but not this much. I'm college educated, have several qualifying skills and have proven myself a team player time and again. Should I stick with this? Will the pay get better? Or am I just whining?

Do you get commissions on top of the salary? Most guys I know are commision only, and would love to get $10 per hour during the slow periods.
