How do I move into the Healthcare field?
Asked by Jimmy J
I have worked in the financial/sales sector for the past 7 years but now I want to change careers and go into healthcare. I currently have a Bachelors of Arts degree. What is the proper way for me to go about this?
So who do I go to talk to about this? Where can I get into an accelerated program? I am in NYC so there are probably a lot of options.

I wouldn't be taking random classes (pretty expensive), before deciding on the field I want to go into.
Look into all areas- do you want direct patient contact -- nursing, occupational or physical therapy, speech therapy, etc. Do you want to become a Physician? Or do you want to go into a more administrative aspect of health care. There's also psychology to consider, counseling. Respiratory therapy comes to mind also. (there's so many things)
Go through a college catelog and see what options are available to you and what looks the most interesting.
Since you already have a bachelor's degree, just know that you may be eligible to go into an accelerated program at a university -- such as to obtain your BSN. Or you can go into a Master's program for the Physical or Occupational therapy programs.
There's so many things that you can do in healthcare, you just really need to decide before you start signing up for classes. See where your interests are and what you'd like to go into.
